Body building for swim team help!!?
Best for leg strength are squats and lunges. Remember that depending on what stroke you are swimming, generally swimming is a combination of power i.e. pull and reducing resistance i.e. streamlining. Building the muscle base may help in both of these areas. But like any sport is how you use your body. If you don't get a good catch then it doesn't matter how muscular you are. When you are doing muscle building you should use a trainer who knows swimming. Different strokes use different muscles. You want to work on those muscles that you will actually use in swimming. Also you want to avoid injuries so you may want to build up certain muscles to prevent injury in the water.
